Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah started the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) campaign as the game’s most expensive player.Â
But after five Gameweeks, Salah’s Points Per Match (PPM) looks rather ordinary, with players a third of his price outscoring him.
Salah debuted this season with a price tag of £14.5 million, becoming the most expensive midfielder in FPL history. After his heroics last season, over 50% Fantasy managers took him in their team, hoping to score big points.

Liverpool are one of the four teams, alongside Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli, to win all of their league games this season. Salah has been intergral to their success, scoring two goals and providing two assists in five matches.
The former AS Roma forward has 30 points in FPL, averaging 6.0 PPM.
The numbers are not poor by any means, but managers expected more from their marquee player. Excluding players who have only played sporadically, Salah ranks 19th in PPM. Considering his stature and price tag he carries, the output has been underwhelming at best.
Players With the Highest Points Per Game After FPL GW5
Erling Haaland, who has risen in FPL price changes for Gameweek 6, has been the highest point scorer this season with 46. At 9.2, the £14.3 million man also has the highest PPM of all Premier League players.
Antoine Semenyo has proven to be a gem of a player in FPL this season, emerging as the most successful midfield option. Only Haaland has outscored the Bournemouth man this term.
Coming to defence, Trevoh Chalobah has been the standout pick. Between defensive contribution points and his attacking prowess, he has been scored 38 FPL points with an average of 7.6.

Budget Gems with the Highest PPM in FPL
Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, and Joao Pedro are relatively expensive options. But there are plenty of budget picks as well, starting with Trevoh Chalobah at only £5.2m. His PPM of 7.6 is the best in class.
In midfield, Burnley has outscored Mohamed Salah by four points in total and 0.8 in PPM. The Burnley man is only worth £5.5 million, making him a tremendous value propostion.
