Eintracht Frankfurt Starlet Hugo Larsson the Subject of the Strong Premier League Interest
Swedish international Hugo Larsson has perked the interests of several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham now joining Arsenal and Liverpool in the hunt for his signature.
Tottenham Enter the Race For Hugo Larsson
Since embarking on a new chapter after leaving his native country to join Eintracht Frankfurt, Hugo Larsson has caught the attention of Europe’s elite.
Notably in the Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool believed to be long-time admirers of the now-20-year-old from his formative years at Malmo.
According to frequent Sky Sports news journalist Florian Plettenburg, Tottenham have now sounded out a potential approach for Larsson who continues to impress in the Bundesliga.
Unfortunately for the interested trio, the eight-cap Swedish international recently committed himself to a bumper new extension which will keep him at Frankfurt until 2029.
It also doesn’t include a release clause, and given his growing stature in a team that has enjoyed a storming start to the new campaign, Eintracht will command a substantial fee.
A modern midfielder in every sense, Larsson’s adaptability when transitioning through various phases of midfield play makes him highly desirable.
Typically deployed a deep-lying playmaker, his skillset stretches far beyond his defensive capabilities. With a propensity for short sharp interchanges with teammates, he is masterful at unlocking space.
Despite the majority of his minutes being spent operating just ahead of the defence, he has already netted as many goals as he did across the whole of last season in 20 less appearances.
Liverpool in particular worked hard to bring in a midfielder of his profile in the summer, but to no avail. Ryan Gravenberch’s transformative form may have closed that door, however.
As for Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has plenty of defensive midfield options at his disposal, with Rodrigo Bentancur perhaps the one with the most technical acumen to compliment. With his troublesome injury history, Larsson could well fit with their recent youthful approach to the transfer market.
