Wolves hold on against Hammers
Evan Ferguson had the first real opportunity of the game, but the young Irishman wasn’t able to convert a Jarrod Bowen cross at the back post as his wait for a first Premier League goal for West Ham goes on.
The hosts were able to get their noses in front just after the 20th minute, with Jorgen Strand Larson delivering yet again for his third goal in the last two Premier League games.
Strand Larson hit a speculative effort from the edge of West Ham’s box and his shot took a big deflection off Max Kilman before looping into the corner to give Wolves an early lead.
Marshall Munetsi came so close to doubling the Wolves advantage just ten minutes later but his close range effort was denied only by the crossbar as the hosts took a one goal advantage into the second half.
Hammers boss Graham Potter didn’t take long to make a change at Molineux, as he changed tactics at half time with Niclas Fullkrug joining Ferguson up front in place of 19-year-old Luis Guilherme.
It looked like that change would prove to be fruitful with just under 10 minutes of the game remaining, as Lucas Paqueta found the substitute open in the box with a looping ball over the top.
Fullkrug’s header from around 10 yards out bounced agonisingly off the crossbar as West Ham continued to struggle in front of the Wolves goal.
The Hammers couldn’t find the back of the net in the second half no matter how hard they tried and Wolves picked up a pivotal three points which could be huge in their relegation battle.
