Late on Tuesday night the horse racing X community went into overdrive regarding a GoFundMe page that had to be set up in order to page for former two-time Champion Chase winner Sprinter Sacre’s vets bill.Â
Sprinter Sacre GoFundMe Page Had Horse Racing Community BaffledÂ
It was reported on Tuesday that the three-time Cheltenham Festival winner Sprinter Sacre had a GoFundMe page set up – to pay for vets bills for a minor procedure.
The treatment took place at Donnington Grove Veterinary Surgery for the now 20 year-old former champion.
But as news spread on social media of the funding page, that was set up by Vicki Roberts who looks after Sprinter Sacre.
Leading horse racing fans to display their anger, why a horse that won £1,136,884 in prize money needed £5,000 in funds raised for a vets bill.
Just seen this on Facebook.
Sprinter Sacre, probably my favourite horse of all time, needs £5000 for vet bills.
Deeply concerning. pic.twitter.com/9Pm2OUkKOq

With many racing fans at the time pointing the finger at Sprinter Sacre’s owner Mrs Caroline Mould and his former trainer Nicky Henderson.
Suggesting that having won the pair so much money – then the least they can do is pay £5k for his vets bill at the age of 20.
However, with racing heads raging into Tuesday night and many jumping to the wrong conclusions – Nicky Henderson took to X on Wednesday to clear up the Sprinter Sacre vets bill confusion.
Saying “It would appear there has been some confusion last night and this morning over a GoFundMe page set up for Sprinter Sacre. The GoFundMe page was set up entirely independently of Seven Barrows and without [owner] Caroline Mould’s or our knowledge.
“Sprinter is currently with a Seven Barrows vet at Donnington Veterinary surgery, where he will undergo a minor procedure, funded entirely by Seven Barrows. This was always the plan from the moment I was made aware of the issue and we will continue to monitor the situation moving forward.”

Sprinter Sacre GoFundMe Page Closed Down
As a result of the confusion being cleared up the Sprinter Sacre GoFundMe Page has been closed down now.
With all donations either to be refunded or Nicky Henderson has said could be sent to the Racing Welfare charity.
