Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has caused quite a stir in the transfer market, proudly donning Boca Juniors’ jersey.
Pogba, who won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, is currently a free agent. He has been out of action since 2023, having been suspended for failing a doping test while at Juventus. The Bianconeri officially got him off their books in December 2024.
The Frenchman’s 18-month doping ban ended in March 2025. The 32-year-old is currently looking for his next club.
Paul Pogba Sparks Transfer Rumours After Posing in Boca Juniors’ Jersey
Former France international Paul Pogba attended Boca Juniors’ FIFA Club World Cup opener against Benfica on June 16. The end-to-end game, which finished 2-2, produced an abundance of drama, with seven cards being dealt out and FIFA earning handsomely in fines. The drama continued off the pitch, as Pogba sparked transfer rumours by posting a photo of himself receiving a Boca jersey from Argentine legend and club president Juan Roman Riquelme.

On June 18, Pogba posted another series of pictures of him playing with friends in Marcos Rojo’s Boca Juniors jersey. The story repeated on June 19, as Pogba posted a stylised Instagram reel of him playing in Boca’s jersey.

Pogba’s posts have left Boca Juniors fans excited. In the comment section, many of them urged Riquelme to sign the four-time Serie A-winning midfielder. They expressed their desire to see Pogba link up with Leandro Paredes in midfield.
Is Paul Pogba Joining Boca Juniors This Summer?
Paul Pogba and Boca Juniors fans clearly have a lot of love for one another. However, at the time of writing, Boca Juniors have not officially made a move for the 32-year-old central midfielder. If they do decide to try for him, negotiations should be straightforward, as Pogba must be raring to go after Juventus terminated his contract. Additionally, since he is a free agent, Boca will not have to bother with club-side negotiations.
AS Monaco are Negotiating With Paul Pogba
Boca Juniors must act swiftly if they want to bring Paul Pogba to Argentina, as AS Monaco are pushing to complete the deal. According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side are in advanced negotiations with Pogba.
However, despite prolonged negotiations, the two parties have not managed to reach an agreement. If the deal goes through, it will mark Pogba’s first move to a club other than Manchester United or Juventus.
