Everton legend Peter Reid has predicted Everton will put more pressure on title holders Liverpool than people expect.Â
Liverpool have enjoyed a flawless start to the Premier League season, winning all four of their matches.
With 12 points, the English champions sit at the top of the Premier League rankings. Priced at 7/5, Liverpool are the favourites with UK betting sites to retain their Premier League title.
Everton Enjoy Perfect Start to Life at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Bidding their long-time home, Goodison Park, goodbye, Everton moved to the 52,000-seater Hill Dickinson Stadium. David Moyes’ side have played two matches at their spanking-new home, keeping clean sheets in both matches.
They beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 on Matchday 2 before holding Aston Villa to a goalless draw on Matchday 4.

Away from home, the Toffees have won one game and lost the other. They kicked off their Premier League season with a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United. On Matchday 3, they claimed a thrilling 3-2 win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers. With seven points on the board, Everton sit in sixth place in the league rankings.
Peter Reid Makes Bold Liverpool vs Everton Prediction
Liverpool are the only team in the Premier League to win all four of their matches so far. At Anfield, they have beaten Bournemouth and Arsenal, scoring five goals and conceding two.
Arne Slot’s men also beat Atletico Madrid in their Champions League opener on Wednesday. Virgil van Dijk scored in injury time to secure a 3-2 win for the hosts.
Considering the form Liverpool have been in, not many pundits are giving Everton a chance in Saturday’s Merseyside derby. Peter Reid, who won the ‘Everton Giant’ accolade in 2006, has a different take.
“Well, last century when me and you [Alan Brazil] played it was always tough. And it’s going to be tough. I watched them last night [vs Atletico Madrid] and they keep on going,” said Reid on talkSPORT.

“Can you get at them? Yes. But I think Slot has done brilliantly in the transfer market, but there’s an optimism around Everton at the moment and this is going to be a test of the optimism and confidence.”
He concluded by adding:
“Moyes knows what it’s about. It’s going to be hard, but the way we’re playing and the atmosphere around the club I think it will be a close game.”
According to Liverpool vs Everton stats, Everton have only won one of their last eight Merseyside derbies in the Premier League. Everton’s last win at Anfield came on 20 February 2021. Playing behind close doors due to COVID restrictions, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored one each in a 2-0 victoruy.
