Premier League Betting Tips On Sunday 4th January 2026: City Hosting Chelsea The Highlight

The next Premier League games in 2026 will see SIX more games that will conclude the Gameweek 20 fixtures.

We get going with in-form Leeds United welcoming Manchester United to Elland Road.

And you feel anything but three points will see Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim under more pressure in the Premier League sack race betting odds market.

There are four 3pm games to look out for that include Spurs entertaining Sunderland and Liverpool on the road to Fulham.

Plus, Newcastle hosting Crystal Palace – a clash that saw the Magpies thump the Eagles 5-0 last season.

But the action concludes with the most appealing match that will see Manchester City taking on Chelsea, who saw their manager Enzo Maresca leave this week.

City did the double over Chelsea last season, so can the title challengers repeat the feat?

The last time the the Blues beat City was in the Champions League Final in 2021.

If you’re having a wager on Sunday’s big games – see our quick-fire stats-based Premier League betting tips, which will hopefully point you in the direction of a few winners.

Leeds United vs Manchester United 12:30

Leeds United will head into their Sunday clash with Manchester United unbeaten in their last six – having had a solid festive period.

This has seen Leeds climb up to 16th with 21 points before gameweek 20 and the match odds couldn’t be tighter – suggesting the bookies don’t know which way this one will go.

United were last in action in a poor 1-1 draw with struggling Wolves – and as a result the next Manchester United manager betting odds market has been busy again.

With the pressure mounting again on Ruben Amorim as the likes of Oliver Glasner and Gareth Southgate fancies in the market to replace the Portuguese man.

Leeds have also lost only twice at home this season in the league (Spurs and Villa) and face a United side with just three wins on the road.

United did, however, win this repeat clash 2-0 when they last met in 2023.

Plus the Red Devils are nine Premier League games unbeaten against Leeds – with the Yorkshire side last beating United in the league in 2002.

Three of the last four H2H’s went OVER 2.5 Goals and saw both teams score – with 3+ goals 4/5 and BTTS (yes) at 4/6, with the last option how we are going to play this opening Sunday match.

BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 4/6

Match Odds

  • Leeds 13/8
  • Draw 5/2
  • Man Utd 6/4

Everton vs Brentford 15:00

Brentford are much better at home, than on the road – with just two wins away in the league this season and seven defeats.

Despite this, it’s another fairly tight betting heat – with Everton the favourites at 11/8, but Brentford and the draw not unfancied, both at 9/4.

The Bees also come here unbeaten in their last three, and the Toffees saw off Forest away in their last league match.

Recent H2H’s have hardly been goal-fests though, with five of the last six going Under 2.5 Goals (83%), which can be backed at 4/6.

While this repeat fixture last season ended 0-0.

And it’s been the draw that’s been the most popular outcome when these two meet.

Both clashes ended all square last season, plus 50% of the last six.

Therefore, in a game the layers suggest could be tight, the 9/4 on both teams sharing the points looks fair value.

BEST BET: DRAW @ 9/4

Match Odds

  • Everton 11/8
  • Draw 9/4
  • Brentford 9/4

Fulham vs Liverpool 15:00

Another tricky match to call.

Yes, last season Liverpool would have been a lot shorter than 10/11 here, but this season their form has been a bit in-and-out.

While Fulham have home advantage and have lost only one of their last five.

Plus the Cottagers have also only conceded one goal in their last three, which came in a recent 1-1 draw with Palace.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight (all comps) though and after a wobble around Oct/Nov, have certainly steadied the ship and are now just 1/2 for a top four finish.

Fulham took four points off Liverpool last season and won this clash 3-2.

And over the last eight Premier League H2H’s Fulham have lost just three.

Other betting options here suggest goals, with five of the last six meetings between the sides going OVER 2.5 GOALS, which is 4/5.

But another strong stat when these two meet is for both teams to score.

This bet has paid out in ALL of the last six meetings, so the 7/10 on both finding the back of the net is how we are playing this one.

BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 7/10

Match Odds

  • Fulham 3/1
  • Draw 11/4
  • Liverpool 10/11

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace 15:00

Newcastle saw off Burnley 3-1 in their last game, but despite this easy win, there are rumours of unrest still at the Toon Army.

With is why the next Newcastle manager betting odds market has been popular of late – with the bookies speculation on who might take over from Eddie Howe if he departs.

Next up is a home clash to Palace, who haven’t won in six (all comps) and could be feeling the impact of a busy campaign, being in Europe too.

But they’ve already bolstered their squad in the January transfer window, by signing Brennan Johnson for £35m from Spurs and he’s eligible to play here.

Palace will also know they got thumped 5-0 in this fixture last season, so will be looking to do better this time.

On a plus the South Londoners have been doing well on the road – they’ve won five of their nine away league games this season.

That said, the Eagles do seem to struggle at St James’ Park – having not won in their last five trips here.

In fact, not only have they not won on Tyneside, but Palace haven’t scored in these last five away games at Newcastle either.

Which is why both teams HAVEN’T scored in a massive SEVEN of the last eight (88%) H2H’s and looks a odd option here at Evs.

It could also pay to note that despite the 5-0 loss in this game last season, five of the last nine H2H’s also ended in draws.

BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS NOT TO SCORE @ Evs

Match Odds

  • Newcastle 4/6
  • Draw 3/1
  • Palace 4/1

Tottenham vs Sunderland 15:00

Strangely Tottenham are top of the away league table with 18 points, but at home are 17th.

Spurs have struggled in front of their home fans with just two league wins this season and next up face a Sunderland side that have surprised many since being promoted.

The Black Cats head here 7th (29 points) and many will be tempted in with the 6/4 on offer on them finishing in the top ten this season.

With Sunderland coming up last season, you have to go back to the 2016/17 campaign to find the last time they faced Spurs.

This repeat fixture that season ended 1-0 to Tottenham.

While the North London side are actually 14 games unbeaten against Sunderland – the last time they lost to the Black Cats was in 2010.

Tottenham are the favourites in the match betting market at 4/5, but that looks skinny on a side that have only won twice at home this season.

Oh, and are also taking on a team that have been making it hard for their opponents.

With that in mind, the Evs on Sunderland/Draw in the ‘Double Chance’ market looks decent value in what could be a frustrating afternoon for the home side.

BEST BET: SUNDERLAND/DRAW ‘Double Chance’ @ Evs

Match Odds

  • Spurs 4/5
  • Draw 11/4
  • Sunderland 7/2

Manchester City vs Chelsea 17:30

After being held 0-0 by Sunderland in their last game, City are out to 21/10 for the title now, behind 8/15 Arsenal.

They start this gameweek four points off Arsenal, but with the Gunners in action on Saturday (vs Bournemouth), it could be seven points by the time this match comes around.

Therefore, City will know anything but a win will severely dent their title hopes.

The good news is they are at home and face a Chelsea side that are playing for the first time without manager Enzo Marseca, who left last week.

Plus, City have lost only one home league game this season, which came against Spurs back in August.

The Blue Moon have also done well facing Chelsea in recent times.

They won this clash 3-1 last season, which can be backed again at 12/1.

And are unbeaten in their last 11 vs Chelsea (all comps).

With the last time the South London side beating City coming in Champion League Final in 2021.

So, City look the obvious call here, especially with Chelsea having some off-the-field issues to deal with.

The 4/6 is little value though, so with City having won 70% of their last 10 games against Chelsea ‘to nil’, this could be the way to go here at 5/2.

BEST BET: CITY WIN ‘TO NIL’ @ 5/2

Match Odds

  • Man City 4/6
  • Draw 10/3
  • Chelsea 4/1
