The 2025 Ryder Cup is here. All of the world’s best players are in action as 12 of Europe’s best face 12 of America’s best golfers in the biennial team event.
Below SportsCasting have detailed a comprehensive Ryder Cup 2025 preview as well as outlining the schedule, teams, players and latest odds.
Ryder Cup 2025 Preview
The 45th Ryder Cup is upon us as Team Europe and Team USA lock horns once again for this year’s biennial golf event.
Luke Donald’s European side are of course the defending champions, having defeated Zach Johnson’s US side 16.5 – 11.5 two years ago at Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy.
Now, Bethpage Black takes centre-stage in Farmingdale, New York with Keegan Bradley replacing Johnson as the US captain. Europe have stuck with Donald, who is looking to go back-to-back.
Despite losing convincingly at the 2023 Ryder Cup, Team USA are favourites with golf betting sites to regain the Ryder Cup on home soil this year. America are priced as the 4/6 favourites, with Europe the 6/5 underdogs to win outright and 6/5 to lift the trophy.
The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau are set to represent the US, with Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood the three standout European representatives.
A total of 24 of the best golfers in the world are set to to battle in the 45h Ryder Cup, which is sure to be an enthralling weekend of golf at Bethpage. If golf fans weren’t excited already, the most definitely will be once the first tee shot is struck on Friday.
Add to that the fact that for the first time in history, players will be paid at the Ryder Cup 2025. So, who will come out on top this year and get their hands on the coveted Ryder Cup come Sunday?
Ryder Cup Schedule & Format
The Ryder Cup is a match play event, meaning a players score to par doesn’t really mean anything. In short, match play is a format where golfers compete to win individual holes rather than total strokes for a round.
At the Ryder Cup, each match is worth one point. A total of 28 matches will take place across the three days of action at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
There are eight pairs matches on Day 1, another eight pairs matches on Day 2 and then 12 singles matches on Day 3. There are two sessions on both Day 1 and Day 2, with Day 3 just one longer session of singles matches.
Day 1 consists of four foursome (alternate shots) matches in the morning session, with four fourball (better ball) matches in the afternoon. This is the same for Day 2. The third and final day of action consists of 12 singles matches.
With a five hour time difference between New York and the UK, the morning sessions will kick-off at approximately 1pm BST, with the afternoon sessions beginning at around 5pm BST. Sunday’s singles will begin at approximately 3pm BST.
All matches are played to a maximum of 18 holes, with a total of 28 points up for grabs. Europe need 14 points to retain the Ryder Cup as defending champions, with 14.5 points required to win it outright for either team.
The competition format is as follows across the three days of action:
| Morning Session | Afternoon Session | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 (Friday) | |||||||
| 4 x foursome | 4 x fourball | ||||||
| Day 2 (Saturday) | |||||||

Latest Ryder Cup Odds
Despite winning the Ryder Cup in fairly convincing fashion two years ago, Team Europe are in fact underdogs for the Ryder Cup 2025 at Bethpage Black in New York.
This could be down to the fact that Europe last won the Ryder Cup in America 12 years ago now. Add to that the fact that Team USA will have a chip on their shoulder, as will captain Keegan Bradley.
USA are the 4/6 favourites to win the 45th Ryder Cup, with Europe 6/4 to win it outright and 6/5 to lift the trophy.
Below are the latest odds on the 2025 Ryder Cup:
- USA to win outright: 4/6
- USA to lift trophy: 4/6
- Europe to win outright: 6/4
- Europe to lift trophy: 6/5
