The road to the 2025 Ryder Cup is well underway, and we at SportsCasting have the latest standings for Team Europe and Team USA.
Who Will Play At The 2025 Ryder Cup?
We are less than five months away from the biennial Ryder Cup tournament, and with players dreaming of representing Europe and the United States, we at SportsCasting are taking a look at the current standings for each team.
The 2023 edition of the competition, held at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy, was convincingly won by the Europeans, but their American counterparts will be confident in snatching back the title this time around as they return to home soil at the Bethpage Black Course in Long Island, New York.
Once again, Luke Donald has been named Europe’s captain, while Keegan Bradley assumes the role for the United States.
A key difference heading into this year’s tournament is that the qualification criteria for European players will be based on one points list, as opposed to the previous system that featured a World Points List and European Points List.
Qualifying events for European players are as follows:
- Major championships: 5,000 points
- 2025 PGA Tour Signature events/The Players/FedExCup Playoffs: 3,000 points
- DP World Tour Rolex Series events: 2,000 points
- 2025 PGA Tour regular FedExCup events: 2,000 points
- DP World Tour ‘Back 9’ events: 1,500 points
- DP World Tour ‘Global Series’ events: 1,000 points
- 2025 PGA TOUR ‘Opposite’ events: 1,000 points
As for Team USA, players can accrue points at the four majors and The Players.
For both teams, the six highest-ranked players in terms of points accumulated will qualify automatically, and captains Donald and Bradley will then select the remaining six players for their respective sides.
