Ex-Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin has ruled out representing Haiti at next summer’s World Cup, after speculation he may be called up for the tournament.
Haiti’s incredible qualification for the 2026 World Cup sparked instant excitement among supporters.
Attention quickly turned towards how the squad could be improved ahead of the tournament.
And one name soon became the topic of intense speculation, as Allan Saint-Maximin was eyed for a Haiti call-up following their World Cup qualification.
The former French youth international also qualifies for Haiti, with supporters hoping he may be a new addition for the Caribbean side.
But Saint-Maximin has now addressed the rumours, seemingly ending any speculation.

How Did Saint-Maximin Qualify For Haiti?
Although born and raised in France, Allan Saint-Maximin is also eligible for Haiti through his grandfather.
As a result of fans realising the connection, rapid speculation grew that he may be called up.
The Club América star is yet to appear at a senior international tournament.
But despite the buzz, Saint-Maximin has no publicly distanced himself from talk of a surprise switch in international allegiance.
Saint-Maximin Rules Out Haiti Call-Up For World Cup
Speaking on Tuesday, Saint-Maximin praised Haiti for their World Cup qualification.
But he also squashed rumours he had been approached about playing for them.
He said via X: “I would like to congratulate the Haitian people and the national team for this historic qualification.
“This is an important moment, and I am sincerely happy for Haiti.”
“I see that some people have made connections, probably because I am Guadeloupean and Guyanese.
“But to be clear, there is no approach and no project concerning the Haitian national team.”
“Total respect to the Haitian players who have earned their place in this World Cup.
“They fought for this qualification, and it is important not to associate them with rumours. Good luck to them for the World Cup.”

Saint-Maximin enjoyed four seasons at St. James’ Park with Newcastle.
He made 124 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 13 goals, before leaving in 2023 to join Saudi side Al-Ahli.
After a loan spell in Turkey with Fenerbahce, he’s since moved to Club América in Mexico for a reported $12m (£9.2m) last summer.
Occasionally tipped for a senior French call-up, the 28-year-old has never been capped by Les Bleus.
This prompted thoughts of a surprise route to the World Cup with Haiti.
But it now seems the former Premier League star won’t be heading to next summer’s tournament after all.
