SPOTY Betting Odds 2025: Rory McIlroy The Favourite But England Lionesses Close After EURO Win
You can see above the latest 2025 Sports Personality of the Year betting odds with this year’s Masters winner, Rory McIlroy, the current favourite to scoop the BBC award.
But only just – as after the England women’s team won the Euros, this has seen a whole host of their players shorten in the betting too.
Back in April, McIlroy completed the golf Grand Slam when winning the Masters in Augusta – which saw his SPOTY betting odds slashed into the market leader.
McIlroy would become the first golfer since Nick Faldo in 1989 to win SPOTY.

Chloe Kelly popped up with the winning goal in the 119th minute, tucking in the rebound penalty to help England to a 2-1 win in the semi-final.
Kelly produced another spectacular performance in the Women’s EURO 2025 final.
Coming off the bench, Chloe Kelly delivered a pinpoint cross to assist Alessia Russo’s equaliser in the 57th minute.
Then Chloe Kelly scored England’s winning penalty in the final shootout – to record a 3-1 win for England.

EURO 2025 Final Standout Hannah Hampton Emerges as a SPOTY Contender
England and Spain threw all they could at one another in the 2025 European Championship final in the summer.
La Roja struck first, scoring from a header in the 25th minute. Alessia Russo equalised for England in the 57th minute.
Spain would have cruised to a win had it not been for England’s wonder keeper, Hannah Hampton. She made a couple of spectacular saves on either side of halftime.
Hampton proved her mettle when it mattered the most.
With England trailing after the first round of shots, Hampton made a great save to deny Mariona Caldentey. Then, she produced an even better save to stop Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati’s powerful penalty. Her heroics helped the Lionesses to a 3-1 shootout win.
After Hampton’s jaw-dropping performance in the Women’s EURO final, the best betting sites are giving her a chance to land the famous SPOTY title.
At the time of writing, she is 16/1 to win the prestigious BBC award. Having been 50/1+ before the final.

Away from Rory McIlroy and the Lionesses, British Formula One driver Lando Norris is certainly in with a shout of winning SPOTY too.
He’s not quite in pole position in the market, but is still third favourite behind Rory McIlroy and Chloe Kelly at 4/1.
Norris, who drives for McLaren, has had fantastic season with seven wins and 17 podium finishes.
And heading into the final race – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 7th – is leading the drivers’ championship.
Lando Norris will be looking to be the first F1 driver to win SPOTY since Lewis Hamilton in 2020.
Hamilton also won the BBC Sports Personality title in 2014.
While Damon Hill (1996, 1994), Nigel Mansell (1986, 1992), Jackie Steward (1973) and Stirling Moss (1961) are the other Formula One drivers to land the BBC prize.
Rory McIlroy is Still The 2025 Sports Personality Betting Favourite
Rory McIlroy is the favourite to win the 2025 SPOTY – in what looks one of the tightest BBC Sports Personality betting markets for a while.
He is now 6/5 to win the 2025 Sports Personality Of The Year Award, out from 8/11.
McIlroy created history by becoming only sixth player to win the Grand Slam in golf, when he took the Masters at Augusta in April.
And as a result, he’s been propping up the market ever since.
Rory McIlroy is yet to win SPOTY, but it hasn’t been a great award for golfers in recent times.
The last golfer to win the BBC’s Sports Personality was Nick Faldo in 1989.
The only other to win was Dai Rees in 1957.
