Tom McKibbin shot a 10-under-par round of 60 to break the Hong Kong Golf Club course record on Thursday on the Asian Tour.
The Northern Irishman recorded eight birdies and 10 pars on Thursday, taking an early clubhouse lead after Round 1 of the 2025 Link Hong Kong Open.
Tom McKibbin Breaks Course Record At Hong Kong GC
Tom McKibbin has officially broken the course record at Hong Kong Golf Club thanks to a bogey-free 10-under-par round of 60 at the 2025 Hong Kong Open.
The Northern Irishman set the clubhouse lead at -10, breaking the course record in the process.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a successful season this year at LIV Golf, which resulted in winning the LIV Team Championship alongside Jon Rahm and the rest of his Legion XIII teammates.
McKibbin has gone from strength to strength since turning professional, carding several top 10s at LIV since joining the Saudi-backed golf league back in January 2025.
Although Joaquin Niemann has the most LIV Golf wins in history, McKibbin has been a breath of fresh air for the Legion XIII team who dominated the 2025 season at LIV.
Now leading the Hong Kong Open by one shot after the opening 18-holes, McKibbin teed off on Hole 11 and picked up early birdies on Hole 12 and Hole 13. He then recorded a hat-trick of birdies from holes 15-17 to post a -5 nine hole score.
Shortly after the halfway mark, McKibbin went birdie-eagle on Hole 2 and Hole 3, before then picking up two more birdies on Hole 8 and Hole 10 to shoot a course record 10-under-par round of 60.
Delighted with his morning’s work in Hong Kong, the 2023 Porsche European Open winner felt his game was as close to perfect as it can get:
“It was obviously a very, very good round. I didn’t really miss too many shots, holed a few nice putts and took advantage of the two par fives that there are out there. 60 shots later, I’m sitting here,” said the chuffed 22-year-old.

McKibbin’s 10-Under-Par 60 Is His Lowest Ever Score As A Pro Golfer
After Tom McKibbin’s course record 10-under-par round of 60 strokes at Hong Kong Golf Club, this also marks the lowest round he has ever produced in his career.
McKibbin’s previous best round was a 62, meaning he has trumped that by two strokes following his masterful round of 60 in Round 1 of the 2025 Link Hong Kong Open.
Although the likes of career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy and world number one Scottie Scheffler aren’t in action on the Asian Tour this week, McKibbin still had to produce the goods to record his lowest ever round of golf.
McKibbin still competes on the DP World Tour too, having earned qualification for the PGA Championship and The Open in his home country of Northern Ireland earlier this year.
It remains to be seen what majors McKibbin qualifies for in 2026, but the 22-year-old will be hopeful of making his Masters debut at Augusta National in April and competing in the other three majors too.
Speaking post-round on his epic 10-under-par course record 60 at Hong Kong GC, McKibbin was ecstatic at achieving his personal best and now has his sights set on that coveted round of 59:
“60 is the lowest round that I have ever shot – 62 has been my best before. So it was nice to break that, fantastic,” McKibbin revealed in interview after his remarkable record breaking round in Hong Kong.

Has Anyone Every Shot A Golf Round Below 60?
Although Tom McKibbin’s course record on Thursday at the 2025 Hong Kong Open is the best of his career, several players have in fact gone one better and broken 60.
It’s worth mentioning that the following scores of 59 or better were registered on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LPGA Tour or LIV Golf only. This doesn’t include the likes of the Asian Tour, where Patrick Reed shot a round of 59 in 2024.
Remarkably, two players have recorded rounds of 58. No player has ever shot a round of 57 or better in professional golf across the leading tours.
