What Are The Main York Ebor Festival 2025 Races?

Across the four-day York Ebor Festival there many top races. Including three Group One contests and the Ebor Handicap, which is staged on the final day.

Wednesday – Juddmonte International (Group One)

This year’s Juddmonte International Stakes will only see six horses head to post. But we could get a rematch of the Coral-Eclispe as the first and second Delacroix and Ombudsman are set to run (watch below).

They take on Danon Decile from Japan, unbeaten French raider Daryz, and the Andrew Balding-trained See The Fire in what is a small but select field.

Gosden, who trains Ombudsman, and Aidan O’Brien, who looks after Delacroix, have won five of the last seven renewals between them.

Last year the race was won by Epsom Derby hero City Of Troy.

Thursday – Yorkshire Oaks (Group One)

The Yorkshire Oaks is the second Group One contest at the York Ebor Festival. A middle-distance race that gives the fillies a chance to shine.

Last year the race was won by the Aidan O’Brien-trained Content. Giving Ballydoyle their fourth win in the last five years and their eighth in total.

And they should be making it nine, with this year’s Epsom Oaks winner Minnie Hauk, who is the odds-on favourite with the horse racing betting sites.

She’s also landed the Irish Oaks (watch below) this season and will head to York 4-4 in her most recent races.

Friday – Nunthorpe Stakes (Group One)

The best sprinters from around the world are often targeted at the Nunthorpe Stakes – a race legendary jockey Lester Piggott won a record seven times.

Blink and you’ll miss it as this five-furlong contest is run at a break-neck pace and this year all eyes will be on Irish speedster filly Lady Iman.

This Ger Lyons-trained 3 year-old has won four of her five career starts this term and impressed to win the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time (watch below).

As a young filly, she’ll also get a handy weight allowance from the rest. She’s set to carry just 8st, with veteran jockey Joe Fanning booked to ride.

Saturday – The Ebor Handicap Is The Richest Flat Handicap Race In Europe

With £300,000 on offer to the winner of the Ebor Handicap, it’s the richest flat handicap race in Europe and, therefore, it’s no shock it’s a super-competitive race each season.

Last year the race was won by Magical Zoe for trained Henry De Bromhead. Giving the Irish their fourth success in the race since 2019

It’s also a prize top jumps trainer Willie Mullins likes to target winning in 2009 and 2023. He tries again in 2025 with his Royal Ascot scorer Ethical Diamond and Hipop De Loire, who was sent off favourite for the race but only managed fifth.

Is 2025 Ebor Festival on ITV Racing?

Yes, the ITV racing schedule will see the ‘free-to-air’ channel covering five races each day.

With Francesa Cumani, Ed Chamberlin and Oli Bell on presenting duties over the meeting.
