Kirk Cousins Career Earnings: How the Minnesota Vikings QB Became the 17th-Highest-Paid Player in NFL History

Navigating the 2022 Minnesota Vikings schedule will be a major turning point for the organization, one way or another.

After another disappointing season without a playoff appearance, the Vikings got rid of longtime general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer. In their place are GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell.

What hasn’t changed all that much is the team on the field.

The defense has undergone some changes, with linebackers Anthony Barr and Nick Vigil, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson and Everson Griffen, and safety Xavier Woods out. However, the team brought in pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, and linebacker Jordan Hicks as replacements.

The organization also went D-heavy in the draft, taking Georgia S Lewis Cine, Clemson CB Andrew Booth, and Oklahoma LB Brian Asamoah with three of its first four picks.

On offense, the Vikings are running it back with a newly-extended Kirk Cousins at quarterback and high-end weapons Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, and Adam Thielen still in place.

With the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears still likely bottom-half teams and the Green Bay Packers possibly taking a step back, this is the Vikings’ year to make a move and win the NFC North. If not, a full-on franchise reset may be in order.

Do the Vikings have enough talent to finally unseat the Packers at the top of the NFC North? And is Cousins a QB who can win it all?
