Happy Gilmore 2 amassed 46.7 million views in its first three days. This is the biggest U.S. opening weekend of all time for a Netflix movie.
This is also the biggest opening for an Adam Sandler movie on Netflix. The legendary comedian has been releasing original movies with the streamer for nearly a decade. Sandler has starred in Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween, Hustle, Sandy Wexler, and more.
Fans of the unorthodox golfer also watched the original Happy Gilmore, which came in at No. 3 with 11.4 million views the week of July 21 through 27.
What Is Happy Gilmore 2 About?
After a nearly 30-year hiatus, Happy Gilmore returns to the golf course for the comedic sequel.
Happy Gilmore (Sandler) had it all — the fame, the glory, and the girl. Then, a tragedy on the course brought everything to a halt.
Happy now spends most of his days drinking at his day job and hating golf. When his daughter receives a shot at attending an esteemed dance academy, Happy must rediscover his swing and win a tournament to pay for the school.
Besides Sandler, Happy Gilmore 2 features the return of Julia Bowen as Virginia, Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, and Ben Stiller as Hal L.
