Tennis fans have missed Jack Draper. Draper is the current World No. 5 and was last seen playing at Wimbledon on July 3. Jack Draper is currently dealing with an arm injury that is keeping him out of the summer’s two ATP 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati, leading up to the US Open beginning August 24.
That is far from ideal preparation for the last Grand Slam of the year, but fans were encouraged when the 23-year-old was included on the list of US Open Mixed Doubles pairings. His original partner, Qinwen Zheng, is out indefinitely after having elbow surgery. However, he is partnering with Paula Badosa (who recently separated from her real-life and planned US Open Mixed Doubles partner Stefanos Tsitsipas.) Draper and Badosa will make their US Open Mixed Doubles debut on August 19.
Is Jack Draper Done With Nike?
There has been recent internet discussion that when we see Draper on the court again, he will not be wearing Nike attire. It is unusual to make a change this late in the year, but he has reportedly signed a deal with Vuori who also outfits Americans Marcos Giron and Tristan Boyer.
This would be a big loss for Nike tennis who despite having Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Holger Rune, lost Taylor Fritz to BOSS and Frances Tiafoe to Lululemon in the past 18 months.
Draper’s kit change is not official, but a recent social media photo seemingly points in the direction of a Vuori collaboration.
@courtside.with.cp Jack Draper has left Nike?!?! Wow. What do you guys think? Is this a good or a bad move? #jackdraper #tennis #tennisfashion #nike #tennisnews #fyp #tennistok
Jack Draper is one of the rising stars of the sport, and fans will be eager to see him on the US Open tennis courts later this month not only to watch his game, but also to officially see if he has ended his partnership with Nike. Nike’s men’s tennis apparel has come under fire recently for its unappealing look; the clothing manufacturer is doing slightly better with outfitting the WTA women including Aryna Sabalenka, Madison Keys, Amanda Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, and Emma Raducanu.
