Led by huge wins by Alex de Minaur and Francisco Cerundolo, Team World swept the second Laver Cup day session and earned four points. Team World now leads Team Europe by the score of 5-3.
Tennis Channel’s Mark Petchey pointed out that the team leading after the second day session matches won the Laver Cup the previous seven times.
The other intangible Team World is enjoying is the “Agassi Effect.” Andre Agassi, the team captain, is clearly a player’s coach.

Alex de Minaur Defeated Alexander Zverev
There is something about de Minaur and team play. He unleashes some of his best tennis. De Minaur played flawless tennis and even though Zverev raised his game in the second set, it was not enough as the Aussie won in straight sets.

Francisco Cerundolo Defeated Holger Rune
Cerundolo has developed a reputation for winning clutch Team World matches. In previous years, he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Casper Ruud. Today, he defeated Holger Rune with his high voltage forehand.

Rune made the match close in the second set, but Cerundolo outlasted him in straight sets with the second set settled by a tiebreaker.
Night Session Preview
Fans will see Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz in the first match of the night session. Alcaraz is the World No. 1, and Fritz is the native Californian so it will be interesting to see who gets the loudest cheers.
The final match of the night is a doubles one pitting Alex de Minaur and Alex Michelsen of Team World against Holger Rune and Casper Ruud of Team Europe.
This year’s Laver Cup has produced outstanding tennis, and the close score between the two teams makes it even more exciting.
