Amanda Anisimova Wins China Open, Errani And Paolini Win Doubles

Amanda Anisimova wins her second WTA 1000 tournament of the year at the 2025 China Open.

Anisimova came out blazing against 20-year-old Czech Linda Noskova seizing the first set 6-0. It was as if she continued her stellar level of play that defeated Coco Gauff in 58 minutes the day before.

However, Noskova battled back and took the second set as Anisimova’s level dropped.

In the third set, it was all Anisimova who was sharper as Noskova seemed to feel the fatigue of a very long semifinal against Jessica Pegula the day before.

Anisimova dropped to the ground after match point. This was her second straight final, her last match before coming to China was in the US Open final against Aryna Sabalenka.

Amanda Anisimova continues her career-best season and becomes the best player on the WTA Tour to not win a Grand Slam. American tennis fans (including me) are manifesting a deep Anisimova run in the 2026 Australian Open with a way-too-early hope of Anisimova doing what Madison Keys did in January in Melbourne.

Earlier in the day, the Italian doubles duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini continued their stellar season grabbing the China Open doubles title.

Errani and Paolini have been as good as Anisimova on the doubles circuit. The 2025 French Open champions are now back-to-back China Open champions.

Anisimova and Noskova Are Rising Stars

The women’s singles finalists have a lot in common. They are both born in the 2000s and both lost a parent as a teenager. Anisimova, 24, and Noskova have both overcome adversity and advocate for mental health off the court. Noskova has publicly shared some of the hate she has gotten this year after match losses, begging for people to be better and kinder. She will make her WTA Top 20 rankings debut when the updated rankings come out on Monday. Amanda Anisimova stays in her World No. 4 position.

Amanda Anisimova and Linda Noskova are current and future stars of the sport and positive role models.
