Ravens coach John Harbaugh stands and stares.

Could the Baltimore Ravens be looking for their next head coach to replace John Harbaugh? It almost seems inconceivable, but it’s a possibility this offseason.

Could the Ravens Fire John Harbaugh?

It’s been a season from hell for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens arguably had the AFC’s best roster heading into the season. Vegas agreed, making them a Super Bowl favorite at the sportsbooks.

Injuries, mainly to Lamar Jackson, and their inability to win close games (2-4 in one-possession games) have the Ravens’ postseason chances on life support.

Harbaugh has been with the Ravens for 18 seasons. This year might be the first one that Harbaugh faces questions about his future.

Right now, Harbaugh is concerned with his team’s game against the Green Bay Packers, not his future in Baltimore.

“Coaching at any level is a day-to-day job,” Harbaugh said to the media on Monday. “Your job is to do the best job you can today. It’s never been about keeping a job. I try to do the job, not try to keep the job. Anything after today, I’m not thinking about.

Harbaugh added, “I try to do the job, not try to keep the job. My focus has been for the last 18 years here and the last 41 years in coaching is to try to do the best job I can today and fight as hard as I can so the guys have the best chance to be successful today. And anything after today, I’m not thinking about because it’s not given for us to think about.”

Sunday Night’s Loss was the Story of the Ravens’ Season

Sunday night represented a capsule of what’s going wrong this season. In the second quarter, Jackson injured his back and never returned. The offense never looked the same under Tyler Huntley.

The most head-scratching decision was the Ravens’ use of Derrick Henry. With 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Derrick Henry scored a touchdown to give the Ravens a 24-13 lead. That run gave Henry 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Henry never stepped foot on the field again, and the Patriots scored 15 unanswered points to win.

“Looking back on it right now, to your point, I would have grabbed it and said, ‘No, put Derrick in the game,'” Harbaugh said. “But that’s not really the way it works in real time. It’s the guys doing the rotation, the coach doing the rotation, and it’s also the plays that are called.”

The Ravens are now 7-8 with a 9% chance of making the postseason. Baltimore’s only path to the postseason is to win the AFC North. They must win out, and the Steelers must lose out.

In Week 17, the Ravens play the Packers, and the Steelers face the Browns. The Ravens then play the Steelers in Week 17.

If the Steelers win or the Ravens lose, Baltimore is eliminated from playoff contention.
