On Tuesday, Christian Klaue, the IOC’s Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, said that boxing will be removed from the 2028 Olympic Games program if no new governing body comes forward to work with the organization.

In the tug-of-war between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Boxing Association (IBA), the IOC is not giving in. Kit McConnell, IOC sports director, reiterated that the IBA will not be involved in any way if boxing is part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games at the IOC Executive Board meeting.

This Tuesday, IOC Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Christian Klaue said on X: ” If we don’t have a new boxing body to work in partnership with the IOC, we won’t be able to have boxing on the program for Los Angeles 2028. “
