Everyone was intrigued when model/actress Carmen Electra made an appearance on The Last Dance on Sunday. She went on and discussed Dennis Rodman’s mini-vacation in the middle of the Chicago Bulls’ 1997-98 season that she was actually a part of. What they did not cover in the documentary, though, was the fact that Rodman and Electra were actually married for a short time.

Dennis Rodman has had multiple high-profile relationships

Carmen Electra is not the only high-profile relationship that Dennis Rodman has had. He has dated multiple huge celebrities, being a huge celebrity himself. One that The Last Dance, of course, covered was the one he had with pop star Madonna. The two dated each other in 1994, according to NBC Sports. Rodman even recently went on The Breakfast Club radio show and said that Madonna once offered him $20 million to get her pregnant, according to Bleacher Report. Madonna and Rodman broke up shortly after he came out with his book Bad As I Wanna Be, also according to NBC Sports.

In addition to his relationship with Madonna, Rodman reportedly had a fling with actress Vivica A. Fox in 1997, according to the HuffPost. He was her date to the Academy Awards that year too but a relationship was never confirmed.

Following all of this, was Rodman’s relationship with Electra in 1998.

Carmen Electra spilled the tea about Rodman’s vacation to Vegas

On Sunday’s episodes of The Last Dance, everyone got all the details of Dennis Rodman wanting to go on a vacation during the 1997-98 season. This came once Scottie Pippen returned to the court after an injury and requesting a trade. Phil Jackson ultimately gave Rodman the vacation he wanted but only gave him 48 hours. After that, the documentary gave us a ton of great shots of Rodman living it up.

Then Electra came on the TV. “It was definitely an occupational hazard to be Dennis’ girlfriend. He was wild,” Electra said, according to NBC Sports Chicago.

Rodman like Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson probably expected did not come back on time. So, Jordan went to fetch him.

“There’s a knock on the door. It’s Michael Jordan,” Electra said, according to NBC Sports Chicago. “I hid. I didn’t want him to see me like that, so I’m just hiding behind the couch with covers over me.”

The segment of Rodman partying with Electra was definitely entertaining and caught the world’s attention on Sunday. Over 20 years ago, though, their marriage also captured the attention of the world.

Rodman and Electra had a short marriage after her mother passed away

Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra met in 1998 after Electra’s mother had recently passed away from a fatal brain tumor, according to US Weekly.

“I got a call in the hospital that my mom was in the hospital … a couple days after coming home, my mom died,” Electra said on Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? series in 2014, according to US Weekly. “Once again, my life changed, but not in a good way. I just went into self-destruction.”

Then after months of dating, the couple eloped to Vegas in November 1998, according to USA Today. They got married at 7 a.m. at Las Vegas’ Little Chapel of Flowers, according to USA Today. While they were not married very long, Electra said their relationship was “very passionate,” according to US Weekly. “When it was good, it was amazing,” Electra said, according to US Weekly. “And when it was bad, it was the worst.”

Electra and Rodman were ultimately only married for less than a year before divorcing in 1999, according to the HuffPost

It has been over 20 years since Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra were married. However, their relationship is as captivating now as it was back then. With the documentary not covering the fact that they got married, and them actually eloping just months after the Bulls won the 1997-98 championship, there is a decent chance that we have not seen the end of Electra on The Last Dance.
