After two months of rehabilitation, New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, who suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder in January, will finally have to undergo surgery. As a result, his season is over.

For two months now, New York Knicks big man Julius Randle has been trying to recover from a dislocated right shoulder suffered at the end of January during contact with Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.

After raising the possibility of undergoing surgery in mid-February —to which he replied, “I’m someone who never says ‘never’, so I’ll do what’s best for me to have a long career”—the 29-year-old three-time All-Star was finally forced to undergo surgery and will therefore be unable to take part in the playoffs, which begin on April 20.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau’s decision to leave his star player on the court when his team was leading by 17 points with 4 and a half minutes to go is therefore fraught with consequences. Randle averaged 24 points per game this season (he played 46), in addition to 9.2 rebounds and 5 assists.
