The Dallas Mavericks pulled off a major upset on Sunday by beating Denver thanks to a Kyrie Irving buzzer-beater. Despite a fine performance from Evan Fournier (who had 18 points), Detroit also fell to Miami 104-101.

Kyrie Irving treated fans in Dallas to a breathtaking end to their game against the Denver Nuggets. The Mavericks got the ball with 2.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the score knotted at 105 before lobbing a left-handed floater past Nikola Jokic to seal an upset victory by a score of 107-105.

Before being saved by Irving (who had 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists), the Dallas Mavericks came close to squandering a 13-point lead midway through the final quarter but were also buoyed by Luka Doncic (who posted 37 pts and 9 rebounds). For the Nuggets, Jamal Murray (23 points and 7 assists) was the most prominent player, ahead of Michael Porter (20 points and 7 rebounds) and Nikola Jokic (16 pts, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists).

Adebayo lifts Heat despite Fournier excelling for Detroit

Evan Fournier had his best performance since arriving in Detroit with 18 points and 4 rebounds, but the Frenchman couldn’t prevent the Pistons from another defeat to Miami by a score of 104-101. 

The setback was all the more frustrating given that Detroit seemed to have done the hard part, tying the game toward the end of the final quarter after trailing by as many as 17 points. However, Bam Adebayo (20 pts and 17 rebounds) emerged as the unlikely hero and saved the Heat with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
