After two overtimes, the Los Angeles Lakers came from behind to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-124 on Tuesday. Anthony Davis scored 34 points and grabbed 23 rebounds to make up for the absence of LeBron James, who was out due to an injury. 

The Los Angeles Lakers, ninth in the Western Conference, continue their fine run. After beating Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Indiana, they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks (second in the East) on Tuesday 128-124 as the NBA’s regular season inches toward its close. The game was spectacular: the Lakers never led in regulation, came back from a 19-point deficit two times, and won in double overtime—all this without LeBron James, who is out with an issue with his left ankle.

The Bucks, who were on a two-game winning streak, got off to a better start and jumped out to a 29-10 lead after nine minutes of play. In the second quarter, Los Angeles initially closed the gap. By the break, however, Milwaukee had again pulled away and was up 58-42 at halftime. In the second half, the pattern remained the same as the Lakers clawed their way back before falling behind again. 

Los Angeles then mounted another comeback and forced overtime in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter thanks to two free throws from Taurean Prince. A great battle ensued as the Lakers finally took the lead, and while Milwaukee almost hit a buzzer-beater at the end of the first overtime period, Anthony Davis came up with a clutch block on Damian Lillard.

The back-and-forth contest until the Lakers were up 124-121 with 24 seconds to go in the second OT. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo missed two free throws, and L.A. ultimately earned the hard-fought 128-124 win. 

Davis recorded a big double-double with 34 points (12-for-32 from the floor including 3-for-8 from deep) and 23 rebounds. He also shined on defense and added four assists. The Lakers were also able to count on Austin Reaves, who had a triple-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, as well as D’Angelo Russell (29 pts and 12 assists) and Rui Hachimura (16 pts ad 14 rebounds).

For Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo was just as spectacular, with 29 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 assists. Damian Lillard scored 27 pts, but struggled from the floor, going 9-for-29 shooting and 3-for-14 from beyond the arc. Malik Beasley scored 21 points and Bobby Portis had 18.

The Los Angeles Lakers remain ninth in the Western Conference but are only two wins behind the Phoenix Suns. They play again on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Milwaukee, meanwhile, travels to New Orleans on Thursday.
