2022 Open Championship Odds: Who’s the Betting Favorite at Iconic St. Andrews?

It doesn’t get any better than this in professional golf. This weekend, the very best in the world will congregate at the birthplace of golf — the Old Course at St. Andrews — for the 150th Open Championship, and the top of the odds board is littered with big names.
Xander Schauffele enters the year’s fourth and final major championship as the hottest player in the field with wins in two straight starts, but he isn’t the betting favorite at St. Andrews. So, who’s the favorite to win the 2022 Open Championship?
Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win the 2022 Open Championship

Rory McIlroy hasn’t won a major championship since 2014, but the oddsmakers have pegged him as the man to beat at St. Andrews this weekend. The Northern Irishman currently stands as the sole betting favorite to win the 2022 Open Championship at 10/1 odds.
It’s hard to argue with the decision. McIlroy has been playing brilliant golf for three months now, and it seems the feud between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour has motivated him to impose his will every time he tees it up. Since The Masters in April, McIlroy has recorded a win and five top-10s in his last seven starts. He’s finished no worse than 19th over that span.
The No. 2 ranked player in the world has gained strokes off the tee and on approach in seven straight starts, and he’s having the best putting season of his professional career. McIlroy is more than a deserving favorite in his 14th Open Championship start.

Behind McIlroy, Schauffele is second on the odds board at 13/1 odds. It wouldn’t be the least bit surprising to see him win his third straight start and secure the first major of his career.
U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick is a bit further down at 18/1, which is tied with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Going even lower down the odds board, Tiger Woods comes in at 65/1 in his return to professional golf.
