One of the top prospects in the upcoming draft class will not work out at the Combine. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty will not participate in on-field drills at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Ashton Jeanty Will Not Participate In On-Field During Combine

While Jeanty will not participate in on-field drills at the Combine, he will do medical testing and interviews.

Jeanty will save his physical drills for Boise State’s Pro Day, including the 40-yard dash.

Jeanty is not the only prospect bowing out of his drills at the Combine.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will opt out of the passing portion of the Combine. Sanders will elect to throw at Colorado’s Pro Day instead.

Ashton Jeanty Prospect Report

Jeanty skipping the on-field drills at the Combine should not impact his draft stock.

The Boise State star is still projected to be the first running back off the board.

Jeanty had one of the most productive seasons for a running back in 2024. Jeanty carried the ball 374 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns. Jeanty rushed for over 100 yards in all 14 games.

The 21-year-old finished 28 rushing yards short of Barry Sanders’ record of 2,628 yards in 1988.

Jeanty finished his Boise career with 4,769 yards and 50 touchdowns in 40 games. Though Jeanty only caught 80 passes in college, most scouts view the talented runner as a three-down back.

Jeanty is expected to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys at No. 12 are the first team that might pull the trigger on Jeanty. The Cowboys need a dynamic runner who’s cheap, considering how much money they’re giving quarterback Dak Prescott. Jeanty could step right in and become the day-one starter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 21), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 22), and Minnesota Vikings (No. 24) are three teams that might consider taking Jeanty if he falls.
