Barbora Krejcikova And Katerina Siniakova Reunite, Win Korea Open Doubles Title

Even though much of the world is captivated by the Billie Jean King Cup quarterfinals event that have been happening over the past four days, it is worth noting that the WTA Tour rolls on now in its Asian swing, at the Korea Open.

While Taylor Townsend is with Team USA at BJK Cup, her doubles partner Katerina Siniakova reunited with her Czech comrade, Barbora Krejcikova, and it was like no time has passed for the pair.

The duo won the Korea Open doubles title and showed tennis fans why this was the most successful WTA doubles partnership of this generation.

What Krejcikova And Siniakova Have Accomplished

There are countless photos of their smiles and celebrations often with the glare of a trophy they are holding.

The pair won 18 WTA titles, are doubles Golden Slam champions, winning seven Grand Slams (two at each Slam except the US Open), one year-end championship (2021 WTA Finals), and Olympic gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

It is an impressive resume which has always made us wonder why they parted ways in the first place. It is not like both haven’t found success since. Krejcikova won the 2024 Wimbledon championships, and Siniakova has won three doubles Grand Slams (one with Coco Gauff and two with Townsend).

What The Win Means

Krejcikova revealed that the decision was Siniakova’s who told her she wanted to go in a different direction in 2024, ending the pair’s relationship at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Barbora Krejcikova always said that she was open to playing with Siniakova again, and that the decision was up to Siniakova.

This win does not indicate that they will play together beyond this tournament.

It may have been more a function of scheduling as Townsend was involved with Team USA at BJK Cup.

Townsend has played with other partners this year when Siniakova was not available, winning the 2025 Mubadala Citi Open with Shuai Zhang.
