Chicago probably should have lost its Week 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Instead, the Bears blocked the Raiders’ field goal to win at the end of the game.
The Bears’ offense has improved under Ben Johnson. The offense is first in run block win rate (76%) and fourth in pass block win rate (68%). However, the defense has struggled — 27th in total defense, 28th in scoring defense, and 31st against the run.
Meanwhile, the Commanders looked like the 2024 team in Week 5 thanks to the return of quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed two games with a knee injury.
Daniels had a quiet day — 231 passing yards and one touchdown to go along with 39 rushing yards — in his first game back. Just having him back there probably increased the team’s confidence. If wide receiver Terry McLaurin can play Monday night, this offense can become even more dynamic.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5, might hold the key to the Commanders’ offense.
I do think this Bears team will eventually put it all together. I don’t expect it to be on Monday night, especially with a defense that will struggle to contain Daniels. Give me the Commanders to cover.

With Daniels still recovering from a knee injury, Croskey-Merritt’s emergence could help save his quarterback from having to run so much.
