Bruins Trade Rumors: Boston considering Justin Faulk

The Boston Bruins have made significant strides this season. One year ago they were tied with the Philadelphia Flyers for the fewest points in the Eastern Conference with 76. However, this season the Bruins appear to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline as they try to solidify a playoff spot. The Bruins are fifth in the Atlantic and eighth in the East with 65 points.

Who are the Bruins targeting at this time?

According to Nate Duffett of Fansided, the Bruins are showing interest in St. Louis Blues defenseman Justin Faulk of South St. Paul, Minnesota. Faulk is a three-time National Hockey League All-Star, as he was honoured three straight years with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2015 to 2017.

Why are the Bruins in need of a defenseman?

Boston is in search of a defenseman because part of their blueline is inexperienced, and has a career of some ineffectiveness. Jonathan Aspirot of Mascouche, Quebec is a rookie with only 34 NHL games under his belt, Mason Lohrei of Baton Rouge, Louisiana only has 167 NHL career games, and is a career -38, and Andrew Peeke of Parkland, Florida only has 15 career goals in 362 games and is a -81.

Previously interested in Rasmus Andersson

The Bruins had interest in veteran defenseman Rasmus Andersson of Malmo, Sweden. However, Andersson was traded from the Calgary Flames to the Vegas Golden Knights instead.

Justin Faulk in 2025-26

Faulk has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 52 games. He was a -4 with 30 penalty minutes, eight power-play points, one shorthanded point, three game-winning goals, 99 shots on goal, one shorthanded point, 95 blocked shots, 44 hits, 18 takeaways and 47 giveaways.

Veteran defenseman

Faulk has played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League. He was with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2011 to 2019, and the St. Louis Blues from 2019 to 2026.

Contract status

Faulk has two more years left on his contract. He is to make $6.5 million in 2025-26 and another $6.5 million in 2026-27.

Blues are underperforming

It has simply been a terrible season for the St. Louis Blues. With 47 points, they have the second fewest points in the NHL. The only team with fewer points are the Vancouver Canucks with 39. It is the Blues for and against ratio that stands out as a serious problem. They are at -53 as they have scored 130 goals and gave up 183 goals. Faulk is one of two Blues in the organization who are the most likely to be on the move. The other is center Robert Thomas, who has been rumored to be going to the Buffalo Sabres.
