CBS & ESPN NFL Reporters Mention Internal Support In Steelers Organization For Justin Fields

The Steelers’ offseason over the last few years has been entertaining, to say the least.
It feels like each day in the offseason, the Steelers are linked to a different player.
Whether it is which quarterback will start in 2025 or an available wideout, the Steelers are constantly in the news in the offseason.
Names brought up to be under center in 2025 for the Steelers include Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Daniel Jones, Aaron Rodgers, and Matthew Stafford as possible candidates.
Aaron Rodgers was brought up on ESPN’s Get Up where ESPN NFL reporter Kimberley Martin was asked if she would be shocked or not shocked if Rodgers went to the Steelers and she answered she would not be shocked. Louis Riddick later stated “They need each other” in regards to Rodgers and the Steelers. First Take had a segment discussing whether Rodgers and the Steelers would be a good fit. Stephan A Smith seems all for it.
Andrew Filliponi mentioned the following on X regarding Daniel Jones.

However, it has not picked up steam. CBS reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala while on 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh stated she did not hear the same sentiment regarding Jones. She did not discredit Andrew or say it was completely inaccurate. She simply stated she had not heard the same sentiment.
However, Kinkhabwala and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler both mentioned there is internal support for Justin Fields.

While on 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Kinkhabwala stated “I do feel very very strongly that the sentiment from people inside the building whose responsibility is to lead this team, that they feel Justin Fields really truly has a chance to be a high-level quarterback. And they would like to see him back.”
The next day on SportsCenter, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler stated “I know that there is some internal optimism or some sentiment for Justin Fields as an option as their quarterback moving forward. And that both sides are open to a potential deal.”
Fowler followed up what Kinkhabwala stated on the radio the day before.
However, in the same segment on SportsCenter, Fowler also stated “Certainly Mike Tomlin feels a commitment or loyalty to Wilson that could show over time here in the next couple weeks.”
Fowler was far more wishy-washy with his report whereas Aditi was more assertive.
Fowler’s report of Mike Tomlin stating he feels committed or loyal to Wilson contradicts what Tomlin said after the Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs. Tomlin stated after the postseason loss that he prefers a mobile quarterback. Russell Wilson is no longer the mobile QB he once was. Fields’ biggest strength is how mobile he is.
Mark Kaboly, Steelers correspondent for the Pat McAfee Show stated that owner Art Rooney II prefers Russell Wilson over Justin Fields.
Kaboly stated, “The people at the top of the organization that might make the ultimate decisions are No. 3 fans over No. 2 fans.”
“I heard that maybe Art is more in favor of Russ than maybe the rest,” Kaboly said.
Time will tell who the Steelers ultimately have under center in 2025 but there is never a dull day for Steelers fans.
