Say what you want about Jones before this season. He has found a home in Indianapolis.
In Shane Steichen’s offense, Jones has thrived — 816 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions to go along with 55 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Jones was a turnover machine in New York. In three games with the Colts, Jones has not turned the ball over.
Jonathan Taylor is off to an incredible start with a league-leading 338 yards, three rushing touchdowns, and one receiving score.
The Colts’ offense is a well-oiled machine. The Colts have scored on 77% of their offensive possessions (20 of 26) and have only punted once.
The Colts now face a pissed-off Rams team that collapsed in Week 3.
Early in Sunday’s third quarter, the Rams scored a touchdown to go on top of the Eagles 26-7. The Rams did not notch a point the rest of the way, while Philadelphia scored 26 unanswered points to win.
Is Week 3’s game a bad game or a bad sign? I lean toward the former. The Rams are 9-4 in their last 13 games, including the postseason. Three of those losses have come against the Eagles.
Right now, the Rams have a Philadelphia problem. Sean McVay’s team can handle the rest of the league.
This is a step up in competition for the Colts after wins over the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans. The Rams are tied for the league lead in sacks with 12.
If the Colts beat the Rams, they must be taken seriously as an AFC threat. Until then, I’ll take the Rams at home.
Pick: Rams -3.5 (-110)
Colts vs. Rams Prop
Jones has not run as much with the Colts as he previously did with the Giants. Indianapolis has a superior offensive line to New York, so Jones can hang in the pocket longer.
Still, Jones is an effective runner when he takes off. Jones has over 26 rushing yards in two of his three starts in Indianapolis.
Against a talented Rams defensive line, Jones might have to become more of a runner on Sunday. Plus, the Rams have surrendered over 32 rushing yards to quarterbacks in two of three games.
