The Golden State Warriors have dominated the NBA for much of the last decade. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and company have reached the NBA Finals in each of the past six years that they’ve all been healthy, and the trio has led Golden State to three titles over that span.

After the Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks to reach their sixth Finals in eight years, there was plenty of chatter from fans and media members alike about how this team is officially one of the NBA’s best dynasties. If you ask Green, though, the Warriors were a dynasty even before their most recent trip to the Finals.

The Warriors should now be considered one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history after reaching the Finals for the sixth time in eight years. But Green says Golden State has been a dynasty for years.

“I’ve been hearing all the talk,” Green said on the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show podcast (h/t NBC Bay Area). “You can’t help but hear it. Like, the Warriors dynasty and that trio and blah, blah, blah. I’m going to tell you, going to these NBA Finals and possibly winning a championship, I think it only helps. But the dynasty was intact before this. This doesn’t stamp the dynasty. The dynasty been stamped.

“And it’s just continuing to get better and better and continuing to take it up and up. But by no means does this stamp the dynasty, by no means does this stamp Steph Curry or Klay Thompson or myself or whoever. We been doing this, and yes, it’s great to be back in this position. I know people be needing things to talk about but this doesn’t decide, or like, all of a sudden now people are like ‘Oh yeah, this is a dynasty.’ No. Stop it. Been a dynasty.”

It’s hard to argue with Green

No team since the Tim Duncan-led San Antonio Spurs has enjoyed as much success as the Warriors of late. Golden State went to five straight NBA Finals from 2015-19, and it won the title three times over that span. The Warriors then missed the playoffs two years in a row due to serious injuries to Curry and Thompson, but the gang is finally back together again, and they’re right back where they belong.

Over the last six fully healthy playoff runs, Golden State has gone 18-0 in Western Conference series. The Warriors are four wins away from their fourth title in their last six postseason appearances.

They’re not on the same level as the Michael Jordan-Chicago Bulls or the Bill Russell-Boston Celtics, but the 2015-22 Warriors have already been in the conversation for a top-five dynasty in NBA history.
