Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips points.

Ahead of the Nov. trade deadline, the Philadelphia Eagles have acquired Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jaire Alexander, and New York Jets cornerback Michael Carter II. Here are trade grades for all three players.

Jaelan Phillips

On Monday, the Eagles agreed to send a 2026 third-round draft pick to the Dolphins in exchange for edge rusher Phillips.

The Eagles’ pass rush is having a down year. Philadelphia has 16 sacks as a team, which ranks in the bottom 10 of the league.

Phillips has three sacks and 25 total tackles so far this season. Phillips had 6.5 sacks for the Dolphins in 2023, a year under the guidance of current Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Considering the Eagles’ pass rush is one of the reasons why they won a Super Bowl last season, Howie Roseman knew he had to add another edge rusher to this defensive line.

Phillips, one of the best players available on the trade market, is 26 and in the final year of his contract. If Phillips hits, the Eagles can try to extend him in the offseason.

If Phillips disappoints, then the Eagles can let him walk in free agency.

The move could be well worth the risk.

Jaire Alexander

Bolstering the secondary was one of Roseman’s biggest points of emphasis at this trade deadline.

The Eagles traded a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens for cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Alexander, 28, has shown flashes of a top corner, making All-Pro twice in 2020 and 2022.

Alexander’s best seasons came in Green Bay, where he spent seven years. After the Packers cut Alexander in June because of salary cap ramifications, the Ravens signed the cornerback to a one-year deal.

2025 has been a struggle for Alexander, who has only played in two of Baltimore’s eight games. Alexander has no interceptions or passes defensed.

Alexander has been a healthy scratch five times this season.

The Eagles are hoping Alexander could provide some help to a secondary looking for players to pair with corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Alexander shouldn’t be viewed as a savior. However, he could still provide some value down the stretch.

Grade: C+

Michael Carter II

Before Alexander, the Eagles acquired another cornerback to add to their secondary.

The Eagles send wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round selection to the Jets for Carter and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Carter has 223 total tackles, two interceptions, and 26 passes defensed in 65 games.

Carter can immediately step into the slot corner position, allowing DeJean to play on the outside.

Unlike Alexander, Carter should step in immediately for the Eagles and make a significant impact at a position of need.
