Eagles vs. Vikings Odds and Predictions

If you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Eagles, think again. The New York Giants manhandled the Eagles 34-17 on Thursday Night Football.

It wasn’t that the Eagles lost; it was how they played. The Giants’ offensive line, the team’s biggest question mark, powered the Giants’ offense to 172 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

New York, which has allowed the second-most sacks in the NFL, only gave up two sacks to the Eagles’ defense.

Injuries are starting to take their toll on the Eagles. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell exited the Giants’ game with a hamstring injury and might not play against the Vikings.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter and offensive lineman Landon Dickerson sat out Week 6 with injuries. Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson, who played in Week 6, are both dealing with nagging injuries that, if reaggravated, could require them to miss games.

After two consecutive losses, the Eagles’ offense is in shambles. Players are calling out offensive Kevin Patullo for being “predictable.” Jalen Hurts can’t get on the same page with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Plus, the offense has scored 17 points in back-to-back weeks.

All eyes will be on Minnesota’s injury report this week. Will quarterback J.J. McCarthy play in his first game since suffering an ankle injury in Week 2? McCarthy is practicing this week, but don’t expect head coach Kevin O’Connell to decide until the weekend. Carson Wentz would start if McCarthy can’t go.

The Vikings could also see the returns of three offensive linemen.

The Eagles are still 4-2, so things could be much worse. However, this team does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. Against a struggling defense that can’t rush the passer, O’Connell should devise a winning game plan to exploit Philly’s weakness. I like Minnesota to cover.

Pick: Vikings +2.5 (-112)

Eagles vs. Vikings Prop

Justin Jefferson’s case for best receiver in the league only gets stronger by the week.

Jefferson ranks seventh in receiving yards (449) despite catching passes from two quarterbacks and playing one less game than most players.

Jefferson has only one touchdown this year, which came in Week 1. If Mitchell can’t play, Jefferson will have a massive advantage on Sunday. I’ll take Jefferson to score at plus money.

Pick: Justin Jefferson Anytime TD (+140)
