NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: Connor Mosack Generating Career Firsts; Corey Heim Draws Idle Circuit’s Top Title Odds

As the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series embarks on a 20-day break, Connor Mosack continues checking off items on his career checklist.
Last Saturday, the first-year driver captured his first pole and led his first laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The rookie of the year candidate now seeks his first trip to Victory Lane.
Mosack, who led the Fr8 208’s opening 29 laps, ran P2 during the final stage before he was squeezed into the Turn 2 wall on Lap 106. The No. 81 Chevrolet limped over the start/finish line in 25th place.
“That’s not how we wanted our day to end,” Mosack said via press release. “We were able to control the race in the first stage. When we got shuffled back, we could get back to the front.
“We just got squeezed (into) the wall of Turn 2 and ran out of room. We’ll go to Las Vegas (on March 14) and try to turn this speed into a good finish.”
Two events into his career, Mosack drew +4000 odds to earn the Truck championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Corey Heim (+225) and Ty Majeski (+360) were tabbed as the series favorites.

Stewart Friesen Comes Up Short Vs. Kyle Busch
It wasn’t the first time Stewart Friesen went up against Kyle Busch. The result ended much like many other times the 10-year veteran faced off against the future hall of famer: Busch prevailed last Saturday in a photo finish. It was his 64th circuit triumph.
Friesen, meanwhile, earned P2 and remains winless in his past 62 outings.
“We had a shot,” Friesen said.
After recording just one top-five finish last season, Friesen said the outcome should jolt the No. 52 Toyota team when the series returns for the Ecosave 200 at Las Vegas on March 14.
“We left (Atlanta) with a tore up piece and played catch up all year,” he said. “So it feels good to have momentum leaving here.”
