NASCAR Xfinity Series driver William Sawalich is being held back.
Joe Gibbs Racing cited concussion-like symptoms as the reason for the rookie being sidelined for Saturday’s Round of 8 finale at Martinsville Speedway.
At +270, Connor Zilisch and reigning circuit titleholder Justin Allgaier received the top sports-betting odds to win Saturday’s race, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Sawalich endured an injury during a six-machine collision last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The 19-year-old driver spent last Saturday night at a Talladega, Ala.-area hospital.
Following the series’ concussion protocol, JGR announced Wednesday that Justin Bonsignore will replace Sawalich with the Modified Tour veteran.
“I’m disappointed to not be in the car this weekend, but my health is my number one priority,” Sawalich said, via a team press release.
Sawlich, who registered nine top-10 finishes this season, continues to be plagued by nine DNFs.

Takuma Koga To Pilot No. 35 for Joey Gase Motorsports
An ARCA Menards Series East and West regular, Takuma Koga, 48, placed fifth in the drivers’ East standings, posting one top five and two top 10s in eight outings. When he finished P3 at Flat Rock Speedway in May, Koga posted the highest-ever finish for an Asian driver.
Koga drew +50000 odds to win at a 0.526-mile short oval track. Saturday’s IAA and Ritchie Bros. 250 race will be his second Xfinity Series outing this season. He placed P29 at Portland International Speedway on Aug. 30.
