The New York Giants have filled their quarterback vacancy over the past couple of weeks, and are now able to turn their NFL Draft focus to another position. After signing Russell Wilson on Tuesday and Jameis Winston last week, the team that holds the third overall pick will be hosting dual-threat prospect and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter for a visit to their team facilities in the coming days.

Giants Set To Host Travis Hunter Ahead Of NFL Draft

The Giants were one of the teams that were desperate for a quarterback. It was thought that they’d utilize the upcoming draft in order to fill their need, not only answering the question mark for the 2025 season, but to have their signal caller of the future in place. They instead hit the free agent market, securing Wilson to a one-year deal, and signing Winston for two years.

Now, instead of taking a risk on someone like Shedeur Sanders with their top-5 pick, they’ll have two veterans in place at quarterback, and will be looking at other prospects to fill holes on a roster desperate for top-end talent.

One of those talents is two-way player Travis Hunter. On the heels of winning the Heisman Trophy, the WR/DB out of Colorado makes for one of the more interesting prospects in this year’s NFL Draft class. It is widely assumed that he will be selected in the top-5 come late April, and many had him pegged to be picked by the New England Patriots with the 4th overall selection.

But Mike Vrabel and company might not even get the chance. According to a report from Giants insider Wesley Steinberg, Hunter will be making a visit to the team’s facilities in East Rutherford, New Jersey this week in order to have a private meeting with the franchise.

During last year’s draft, the Giants spent a top pick on a wide receiver, bringing in Malik Nabers with the 6th overall selection. But Hunter has the ability to play both receiver as well as defensive back, and his best NFL attributes may be with the latter. But whether they view him as an offensive or defensive player, the team is in a spot that allows them to select the best available.

There is still nearly a month between now and draft day, and moves could be made that would shake up the order of the top-5. But look for the Giants to stay put, especially if they are enamored with Travis Hunter and his profile.
