The Colts went on the road in Week 4 and lost by a touchdown to a good Los Angeles Rams team.
If you watched the game, you can make a strong case that the Colts should have won. Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell fumbled the ball steps before crossing the goal line, which took away a touchdown.
Then, a Jonathan Taylor 53-yard touchdown was taken off the board by a holding penalty on the Colts.
That’s 14 points right there that could have gone the Colts’ way. Instead, Indy left SoFi Stadium with a loss.
Daniel Jones did show some weaknesses on Sunday, throwing two interceptions, including one on the Colts’ last drive of the game to seal the victory for the Rams.
Speaking of interceptions, Raiders quarterback Geno Smith looks lost right now. Smith has thrown seven interceptions, including two 3-interception games at home.
On the bright side, Ashton Jeanty looked like a top 10 pick in Week 4’s 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears. Jeanty rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown. The Boise State product also caught two receiving touchdowns.
After a dominant performance against the New England Patriots, the Raiders’ defense has regressed. Las Vegas’ defense ranks 21st in yards allowed (331.0) and 22nd in scoring (24.8 ppg).
Indianapolis turned the ball over three times and committed 11 penalties in the Rams’ loss. If they clean those mistakes up, the Colts should win and cover.
Pick: Colts -7 (-105)
Raiders vs. Colts Over/Under
The Colts are in the top half of the league in scoring defense (20.8 ppg). Keep in mind that they played the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans — who have a combined record of 1-8 — in two of their four games.
The Raiders allow 24.8 points per game, which ranks 22nd in the NFL.
Smith has to keep the turnovers down. If he can do that, then the Raiders can keep up with the Colts, the fourth-highest-scoring team (30.8 ppg) in the NFL.
