Russell Wilson Names His Seattle Seahawks Starting 5 for the NBA Finals
The way Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks offense is clicking, they just might be able to put up some points if they were playing in the NBA Finals. While the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat are battling it out for the NBA title, Wilson put together a starting five that he thinks could do some damage on the basketball court. Although Wilson is having an MVP-type season, he said he would just want to coach this Seahawks hoop squad.

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks offense are rolling. The Seahawks are off to a 3-0 start and haven’t scored less than 35 points in a game this season. Wilson has been playing at an MVP-type level.
In his ninth season in the NFL, Wilson has thrown a league-leading 14 touchdown passes in the three games and has one interception. Wilson has been the leader of the Seahawks since he was a third-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. He claimed the starting job as a rookie and has never missed a game in his career.
Wilson is coming off a five-touchdown performance in last week’s 38-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Three of those touchdowns went to Tyler Lockett, who gave all the credit in the world to Wilson. “It’s just staying alive and staying open,” Lockett said, according to ESPN. “We have a quarterback that can figure out a way to run around and just keep the play alive and you never know when he’s going to be able to give it to you.”
Russell Wilson was a two-sport professional athlete
When it came to making a decision regarding his professional career, Russell Wilson made the correct one. Wilson played both college football and baseball at North Carolina State. In 2010, Wilson was a fourth-round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies.
Wilson played two seasons of baseball in the minors. He played a total of 93 games, never getting above the A level. Wilson played in the 2010 and 2011 seasons and hit .229 for his career. His baseball career led to a falling out with his football coach at North Carolina State.
Wilson transferred to the University of Wisconsin for his final year of college eligibility. There, his focus was solely on football and it paid off. Wilson threw for 3,175 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also rushed for 338 yards and six scores.
Wilson names his top 5 basketball players on the Seahawks
Who knows, Russell Wilson’s athleticism could’ve landed him on the basketball court at some point. The Seahawks quarterback, however, named his top five teammates who would comprise the team’s basketball squad and said he would sit out and coach them. With the NBA Finals going on, Wilson rattled off his five teammates who would start for the Seahawks basketball team.
“I’m gonna give you my Seahawks starting five,” Wilson said on the Seahawks’ official Twitter page. “I wanna be the coach, though. I’m gonna be Phil Jackson. I got Tyler Lockett at point guard. He’s going to be shooting guard/point guard, a.k.a. Steph Curry. I got Bobby Wagner making plays, slasher, getting to the hoop but can also shoot from outside.
“I’m gonna go with a big-man, Dwayne Brown, a.k.a. Shaq. I’ll go with D.K. Metcalf, my LeBron – King D.K. over there. OK, I need one other guy. You know what, I’m actually gonna with Poona (Ford). Nobody knows, but Poona’s got a J. That’s my starting five. We’re gonna win this thing.”
