Three 0-3 NFL Teams: Can Any Of Them Bounce Back & Make A Playoff Push?
Losing three straight games to open the season is never a way an NFL team wants to begin the year.
It is challenging to bounce back from three straight losses in the NFL with there only being 17 games.
While five teams are riding high starting the season 3-0, three NFL teams are down in the dumps after losing their first three games. The three NFL teams that are 0-3 are all in the AFC, making it even tougher to recover.
The Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans are all 0-3 to begin the season.
Below, we discuss whether the Bengals, Jaguars, and Titans can overcome their 0-3 start and push to make the playoffs.
Can Any Of The 0-3 Teams Overcome Their Slow Start & Make The Playoffs?
Through three weeks, three NFL teams have begun the year with a record of 0-3.
The Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans are all 0-3 to begin the season.
Scroll down to see if any of the 0-3 teams have a chance to overcome their slow start and push to make the playoffs.
Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati entered the season with high hopes as star QB Joe Burrow returned.
Unfortunately, their season has not started well and they sit 0-3 and last in the AFC North. Luckily for the Bengals, the Browns and Ravens are each 1-2 in the division. However, the Steelers are 3-0 in the AFC North.
While starting 0-3 is never a way a team wants to begin the year, as it currently stands, Cincinnati is one game back from the seventh spot in the AFC. Just six teams in the conference have a record of 2-1 or better.
The Bengals have found their groove offensively.
Joe Burrow is looking like himself. Ja’Marr Chase went off in week 3 and Tee Higgins made his season debut in week 3.
Looking ahead at their next six games, the Bengals face Carolina on the road, then the Ravens at home, followed by the Giants and Browns on the road, then back at home for two straight games against the Eagles and Raiders.
All six games are winnable for the Bengals.
The two toughest games which are against Baltimore and Philadelphia, Cincinnati will be at home for those games.
In this upcoming six-game stretch, it is easy to imagine the Bengals winning 4-6 games.
We will go in the middle and say Cincinnati will win five of their next six contests as long as Joe Burrow is healthy.
This will leave the Bengals with a record of 5-4 after nine games.
They need their defense to improve, mainly stopping the run.
If they can improve defensively, the Bengals will be just fine with Burrow.
Cincinnati can overcome their sluggish start and still make a push for the playoffs.
Jackonville Jaguars
One of the biggest disappointments this year has been the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This downward spiral began last year when the Jags collapsed and did not end up making the playoffs.
It has continued this season and the Jaguars are 0-3.
Despite receiving a huge contract, Trevor Lawrence has failed to live up to expectations. Coming out of college, Lawrence was thought of as a generational talent and he would become an elite QB. This has not occurred.
The Jaguars have not scored 20 points in any game this year. They have scored 17 or fewer points in each of their first three games.
Jacksonville is coming off an embarrassing 47-10 week 3 loss against the Buffalo Bills.
Doug Pederson is on the hot seat and if this season continues to be a disaster, he may lose his job midseason.
Defensively, the Jaguars did a good job in weeks 1 and 2. They held Miami to 20 points with Tua under center and Cleveland to 18 points in week 2. Jacksonville’s defense got lit up in week 3 by Josh Allen and the Bills.
This is a dysfunctional Jaguars team, leading back to last season.
Jacksonville will not overcome their 0-3 start and will not make a push to make the playoffs.
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are the third team to begin the season 0-3.
Tennessee has struggled on offense, with Will Levis having an awful start to the year. They have scored 17 or fewer points in each of their first three games. Levis has thrown one or more interceptions in each of the first three games. He has more interceptions than passing TDs. Levis has been sacked three or more times in each of the first three games.
The Titans need to consider making a QB change if Levis continues to struggle this much. There was some hope he could have a good year but he has failed to do so. A QB change could be coming for the Titans, sooner rather than later.
Tennessee’s defense has not been bad but they are getting no help from the offense.
Tennessee is not good enough to overcome their 0-3 start and they will not make a push to make the playoffs.
