Tom Brady’s Life in Tampa Includes Trespassing and Now ‘Breaking and Entering’

Tom Brady knows there will be an adjustment period when he suits up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later this year. He’s already finding that out pretty regularly and the football season isn’t set to kick off for another five months or so. Brady’s adjustment to life in Tampa outside of football has already been rocky at best.

Tom Brady has been kicked out of a park in Tampa

It all began at the beginning of the week when former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was in the middle of a routine workout in Florida. Brady, who had spent the last 20 seasons under center for the Patriots was busy getting acclimated to his new surroundings after inking a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady was exercising at a city park that, unbeknownst to him, had been shut down to help stop the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Tampa Mayor Jane Castor explained what happened on a Facebook Live session Monday when she was speaking with Rick Kriseman, the mayor of St. Petersburg.

“You know our parks are closed down and so a lot of our parks staff, they patrol around just to make sure people aren’t doing contact sports and things and saw an individual working out in one of our downtown parks,” said Castor. “And she went over to tell him that it was closed and it was Tom Brady.”

Brady enters someone’s house without permission

Earlier this month, Tom Brady had a much more embarrassing moment adjusting to his new surroundings. On April 7, Brady was scheduled to meet up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. He planned to meet up at Leftwich’s house.

Brady, however, walked into the wrong house, stunning the owner who was sitting home quietly. “I’m sitting here, and I see this big shadow come up to my front door … and I hear my doorknob turning … and I’m like, What the hell? Like, who’s coming in my house?” homeowner David Kramer told TMZ. “I literally was just sitting here, and I watch this tall guy walk in my house.”

The conversation then turned comical. “And he goes, ‘How’s it going, man?'” Kramer said. “And sarcastically I’m like, ‘I don’t know. You tell me, dude.’ Like, who are you? And then he looked at me with the most confused face. I’ll never forget it for the rest of my life. He just goes, ‘Am I in the wrong house?'”

Leftwich’s home was right next door, but Brady picked the wrong one. He apologized and headed over to the correct house.

Brady shows his sense of humor

If this off-the-field adjustment period for Tom Brady is a precursor to what his adjustment period will be like on the field, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be in for a long season. Fortunately for Brady, the Bucs just acquired his friend and former teammate Rob Gronkowski in a trade with the New England Patriots which should help him with the comfort level.

Throughout this whole ordeal, Brady has maintained his sense of humor. Brady, who is referring to his new home as ‘Tompa Bay,’ sent out a tweet Thursday, sarcastically saying he was just getting comfortable. “Trespassing in parks, breaking and entering… Just making myself at home in Tompa Bay!”

The Buccanneers are hoping this type of comfort doesn’t translate to Brady’s performance on the field when the season begins.
