Travis Kelce brushes aside retirement rumours at Super Bowl LIX opening night

Ahead of the Super Bowl this year Travis Kelce’s potential retirement has been one of the biggest talking points in the NFL, but the tight end put those rumours to bed on Monday night.
Travis Kelce addresses uncertain future
Kansas City Chiefs legend Travis Kelce put to bed any rumours of retirement this season on Super Bowl opening night, with the tight end keen to continue building on his legacy.
It was reported that Kelce was considering retirement after his fifth Super Bowl appearance this year but even if he lifts the Vince Lombardi in New Orleans, the 35-year-old has no plans of calling it quits on his career just yet.
“I’ve thought about it, but I still love what I do,” Kelce said on Super Bowl LIX opening night. “It’s moments like these, weeks like these, the month that we just had in the playoffs that make me feel like I could play this game forever.

“I think I still got a lot of football left in me. I think this year has been one of the most special years of my life. I think it’s gonna continue to make me want to do more in the football world.”
It certainly feels like Kelce has been playing in the NFL forever and after 12 years in the league it is no surprise fans are speculating that this may be the end.
But when he was asked if this would be his last Super Bowl, Kelce was in absolutely no doubt about his future.
“Where will I be in three years? Hopefully still playing football,” he said on Monday night. “I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me.”
What next for Travis Kelce?
Despite retirement not being on the cards just yet, there are other things Kelce has been lining up outside of the football world in anticipation of the end of his career.
“We’ll see what happens. I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life.” he continued.
“That’s always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long. You’ve got to find a way to get into another career, another profession. I’ve been doing that in my offseasons. But for the most part, I’m planning on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”
Kelce already has a podcast that he runs alongside his brother, Jason and their ‘New Heights’ show could be a glimpse of what is to come for the Chiefs star post-retirement.
But for now Kelce is preparing for a shot at a historic three-peat and retirement is the last thing on his mind heading into Sunday’s big game.
