Travis Kelce Is Just Three Super Bowl Catches Away From Breaking Long-Standing Jerry Rice Record

Travis Kelce is closing in on an NFL record that would put him down in the record books forever, with the tight end needing just three catches in the Super Bowl to have the most catches in the Championship game ever.
3 Catches between Travis Kelce and Super Bowl history
Travis Kelce has been an integral part of the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty over the past five seasons and as he reaches the final years of his career, the legendary tight end is closing in on some elusive records.
With four appearances in the Super Bowl through his career so far, Kelce has become one of the most prolific scorers in the Championship game.
The 35-year-old tight end has recorded 31 catches in the Super bowl, which has put him on the verge of history as this year’s game approaches.
Only Hall of Famer Jerry Rice has had more Super Bowl receptions than Travis Kelce with 33, however the Chiefs star now only needs four to enter the history books and overtake Rice.

It is hard to believe Kelce will have less than three receptions in such an important game but in the AFC Championship game last week the tight end struggled with just two catches.
The former Cincinnati Bearcat has one of the best records ever in the Super Bowl though, and last year Kelce had nine receptions off of ten targets.
Kelce has never gone under six catches in the Super Bowl, with nine in 2024, six in 2023, ten in 2021 and six in 2020.
Jerry Rice also played in four Super Bowls during his illustrious career and like Kelce he also won three rings, but the wide receiver will stand on top for some time to come in other categories.
Rice has an incredible 589 receiving yards in Super Bowl’s and eight receiving touchdowns which dwarfs Kelce’s statistics even if they are impressive.
Kelce has two receiving touchdowns in the Super Bowl and 350 receiving yards. The tight end needs just 15 yards to overtake Rob Gronkowski and Lynn Swann in Super Bowl receiving yards.
