The KC Chiefs and L.A. Chargers lead the list of landing spots for Tyreek Hill after his Dolphins' release.

In a move that was widely expected across the NFL, the Miami Dolphins officially released eight-time Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill on Monday morning.

The decision was an easy one for a front office tasked with rebuilding on the fly under new head coach Jeff Hafley. By moving on from Hill, Miami clears $22.8 million off the books and paves the way for new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik to bring in the right players for his system.

Hill, who will turn 32 before Week 1, is rehabbing a catastrophic dislocated knee and torn ACL suffered in September 2025. Suddenly, for the first time in his career, the league’s most feared deep threat is an unrestricted free agent.

Here are the three best destinations for Tyreek Hill’s next team.

Kansas City Chiefs: The Full Circle Reunion

The narrative is almost too perfect. After four years apart, Hill would be returning to Arrowhead in time to reunite with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

In 2025, Patrick Mahomes had a 31.8% completion rate on passes 20+ yards downfield. Hill’s ability to generate explosive plays would immediately upgrade Kansas City’s vertical attack and give the Chiefs the true field-stretcher they’ve been missing.

While Xavier Worthy is a viable deep threat, Hill’s undeniable connection with Mahomes makes this reunion worth a shot.

Los Angeles Chargers: The Mike McDaniel Connection

If Hill wants to go to a new team but remain in a system that knows exactly how to use him, he doesn’t need to look very far.

New Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel was the architect of Hill’s historic 1,700-yard seasons in Miami. He understands how to use pre-snap motion and make the most of Hill’s speed.

Adding Hill, who averaged an impressive 2.52 yards per route run, to a receiving corps that already features Quentin Johnston’s explosiveness and Ladd McConkey’s ability to win on short-to-intermediate routes would instantly upgrade the Chargers’ passing attack.

The Chargers are currently projected to have over $82 million in cap space, the fourth-most in the NFL, giving them the ability to outbid other teams if they want to give quarterback Justin Herbert another weapon.

Washington Commanders: The Missing Piece at WR

The Commanders are fresh off a disappointing 5-12 season, but there’s still plenty of reason for optimism in D.C.

Jayden Daniels is expected to be ready for Week 1, and the Commanders are in the market for wide receiver help. With Deebo Samuel expected to depart in free agency, Washington has a glaring need for a playmaker who can win downfield opposite Terry McLaurin.

Though the Commanders could target a player like Brandon Aiyuk, Hill would likely come at a significantly cheaper price tag.

Washington has the cap flexibility to make Hill a competitive offer and give him a chance to be a major contributor on a team that is hungry for a deep playoff run.
