Warriors-Grizzlies Game 5: Odds, Predictions, and Best Bets
After an ugly, low-scoring victory in Game 4, the Golden State Warriors are now just one win away from becoming the first team in the 2022 NBA playoffs to reach the Conference Finals. At this point, it seems like a near certainty the Warriors will prevail against the Memphis Grizzlies considering Ja Morant has been ruled out for the rest of the series with a bone bruise in his right knee.
But will Golden State be able to close out the series on the road in Game 5? And more importantly, will they cover? Let’s check out the betting odds for Wednesday night’s matchup and try to find some winners along the way.
Warriors-Grizzlies Game 5 odds and predictions
Spread: Warriors -4
Total: 218.5
Moneyline: Warriors -174, Grizzlies +146
The Western Conference semifinal series between the Warriors and Grizzlies had the makings of a back-and-forth classic. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Morant suffered a bone bruise in his right knee in Game 3 and is now doubtful to return at any point in the playoffs.
Morant’s absence was felt right away in Game 4, as Memphis struggled to find a groove offensively and finished with its lowest point total of the series (98). Golden State also couldn’t buy a bucket all night (39.6% from the field, 23.7% from three), but its championship pedigree showed up in the fourth quarter on its way to a sloppy win.
The series now stands at 3-1 in favor of the Warriors as we head back to Memphis for Game 5. The Grizzlies enter the must-win contest as four-point home underdogs, with the total sitting at a series-low 218.5.
It might be tempting to fire off an under bet based on how lifeless both offenses looked in Game 4, but I’d expect the Warriors to bounce back in a big way from beyond the arc. I think Golden State will close out the series on Wednesday night and cover in the process.
Best bets for Warriors-Grizzlies Game 5
Warriors -4 (-110)
If I told you before Game 4 that the Warriors would shoot 9/38 from three, commit 16 turnovers, and Klay Thompson would go 6-of-20 from the floor and 0-of-7 from three, you’d probably expect them to get blown out. They probably should’ve, but they somehow squeaked out a win despite their poorest offense performance of the 2022 playoffs.
Those abysmal shooting numbers won’t be replicated in Game 5. Golden State wants to get this series over with and get some rest ahead of the Western Conference Finals. There’s no reason this shouldn’t be a comfortable win for the Dubs.
Draymond Green over 7.5 rebounds (-112)
Without Morant on the court in Game 4, Draymond Green recorded 10 rebounds on 17 rebound chances. He’s averaging 14 rebound chances per game in the series, and we only need to convert a little more than half of those to hit this prop.
In a close-out situation, I expect Green to be aggressive on the defensive end and especially on the glass. Don’t be surprised if he pulls down double-digit rebounds for the second game in a row.
