New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen gave an interview with the team’s official website and spoke about how their free agent QB signings will affect their draft
Joe Schoen Talks About Taking A QB With No. 3 Pick
Much more to come from Joe Schoen, but the biggest takeaway I had from his 20-minute session with reporters at the owners meetings: He laid the groundwork for not taking a QB at No. 3.
Now, he might be being cagey but he really hammered how you can’t force the pick if you don’t…

It’s no secret that the Giants must find their quarterback of the future.
So far, the Giants have signed free agent quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
The Giants own the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The chances of a quarterback like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders falling to No. 3 are high.
With the Giants needing a quarterback, would they target one at No. 3?
With the new roster, Schoen believes they don’t have to take a quarterback that early. However, the Giants’ GM is not ruling it out.
“Since I’ve been here, we’ve tried to set it up on draft day that we could go play a game [that day],” Schoen said to Giants.com. “I feel like we’re there now. That way you don’t get backed into a corner or force yourself to do anything. The only year that didn’t happen was probably my first year. We had to cut several players just to get under the salary cap. There were a lot more holes, so maybe you get into some need-based picks in that scenario.
“But now we’re in a situation where you go through the roster and say, OK, throughout the draft where can we still upgrade? We’re not done. We still want to upgrade. We have five picks in the top 105. We could go any position, so we’re not ruling any position out.”

The three quarterbacks on the Giants’ depth chart are Wilson, Winston, and Tommy DeVito.
Wilson signed a one-year contract worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed.
Winston inked a two-year contract worth $8 million.
The Giants will make their decision about the draft on April 24.
