We’ve made it to another primetime matchup early on in the NFL season, which means it’s time for some more first touchdown scorer bets! I’ve got another three-pack ready to roll for Sunday Night Football when the Green Bay Packers go up against the Chicago Bears, and I went hunting far down the board for some extra value this time.

So, without further ado, let’s get to the picks.

AJ Dillon +750

Let’s start off our card with a name at the top of the odds board. I give the Packers a much better chance to find the end zone first considering they’re 10.5-point favorites in the game, and I think Dillon has the best chance to punch one in early.

In Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, Dillon had five more carries and two more catches than Aaron Jones despite taking six fewer snaps. He also scored the only Packers touchdown of the game. Green Bay clearly wants this backfield to be closer to a 50/50 split this year, so there’s no reason Jones (+500) should be priced lower than Dillon to score first.

Give me the juicier Packers running back tonight.

Christian Watson +2100

Rookie wide receiver Christian Watson didn’t make the best first impression on Aaron Rodgers by dropping a would-be touchdown pass in his first target as a pro. Some may see that as a negative, but I think it could go the other way.

Watson showcased an ability to beat cornerbacks and safeties consistently with his speed. Rodgers would’ve given him another chance at a deep shot if he had any time to throw last Sunday. I think the Packers draw something up for the rookie to redeem himself in Week 2.

Romeo Doubs, the other rookie in this Green Bay WR room, can’t be priced lower than Watson at +2000. I’ll take a shot on talent at +2100.

Khalil Herbert +2400

David Montgomery is clearly the No. 1 running back on the Bears roster, but he wasn’t the best runner on the team in Week 1. The Iowa State product managed only 26 rushing yards on 17 carries against the San Francisco 49ers, while Khalil Herbert turned nine rushes into 45 yards and a touchdown.

Despite the glaring difference in productivity, Montgomery is +1100 to score the first touchdown tonight, and Herbert is all the way up at +2400. I have to take the value here.
