Carolina Panthers
In 1993, the Carolina Panthers formed the first NFL expansion team in 30 years. Former NFL wide receiver Jerry Richardson spearheaded the franchise’s bid and attracted supporters like the Seahawks‘ former head coach Mike McCormack. In the Panthers’ first season, the team set a record for most wins by an expansion team with a 7-9 record. By the second season, the Carolina franchise made it to the NFC championship game with a 12-4 record and NFC Western division win.
