With his record now at 11-0, Ball began to step up the levels. 2020 and 2021 was a relatively frustrating period for the Liverpudlian, having just three fights. Nick Ball challenged Rey Vargas for the WBC World Featherweight Title on one of His Excellency Turki Alalshikh‘s bumper Riyadh Season cards, with the official result being a draw. However, it was clear that Ball was robbed in the fight and deserved to become world champion.
He dusted himself down and did just that in his next fight, winning the WBA belt off Raymond Ford to become world champion. It was a coming of age performance from Ball, who well and truly announced himself on the world stage after that victory.
