Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane is set to join Galatasaray from Bayern Munich amid reported interest from Premier League giants Arsenal.
Leroy Sane To Join Galatasaray Amid Arsenal Interest
Germany international winger Leroy Sane will reportedly join Galatasaray from Bayern Munich this summer.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena, with his contract set to expire at the end of the month, and the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham have been touted as potential destinations.
A return to the Premier League now seems unlikely for the former Manchester City star however, as football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the coveted attacker is set to sign a three-year deal with Galatasaray.
Napoli, Al-Hilal and Fenerbahce were also believed to be interested in landing the Schalke academy graduate.
Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning: “Understand Galatasaray are now optimistic and confident to get Leroy Sané deal done!
“Galatasaray board and president now confident to get green light from Sané and bring him to the club.
“Negotiations well underway.”
In a follow up post, Romano said: “Leroy Sané will become Galatasaray player on contract until June 2028, as revealed this morning!
“Deal almost agreed between parties with formal signature to follow, player’s camp in Istanbul to complete all steps.
“Here we go, soon.”

The Athletic report that Sane’s three-year deal with the Turkish Super Lig champions is worth €15m (£12.72m) per year, which equates to around £475,000-a-week.
He will undoubtedly become the club’s marquee player, with Victor Osimhen returning to Napoli upon the expiry of his loan. It represents a significant coup for Galatasaray as they look to defend their league and cup double next term.
Sane: ‘Arteta Has Helped Me A Lot On The Pitch’
Arsenal reportedly saw Sane as a cost-effective option in comparison to Nico Williams, whom they have long been linked to, and the club would’ve been hopeful in landing the German given that he’s previously worked with Mikel Arteta.
The winger spent over three years working with the Spaniard at Manchester City between 2016 and 2019.
Speaking on their relationship, Sane told The Independent: “I can just say positive things about Mikel Arteta. Since we started working together, he has helped me a lot on the pitch.
“He tried to improve my football, he told me what I did good and what I did wrong, and he tried to work on it. Next to Pep, they both really helped me and improved me, to bring me to the next level.
“Even now, at Arsenal, for me, you can see he’s doing a great job. You can see he has a concept, a way that he wants to play, a way that he wants his team to play, and obviously, it will take some time until everybody really understands it. I think he will do a great job as a [head] coach too.”
Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Closing On Sesko
In other Arsenal transfer news, the Gunners are reportedly advancing on a move for Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko has been a long-time target for the North Londoners, and they look to finally be closing in on their man.
The Bundesliga side value the Slovenian at a reported £70m, with discussions between both parties set to continue over the coming days.
Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins are also being considered by the Gunners.
Elsewhere, Arteta is keen on adding another left winger to his squad.
As previously mentioned, Athletic Club’s Williams is on their radar, and so is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. The Brazilian is expected to conduct talks with Los Blancos’ new head coach, Xabi Alonso, over his future at the club.
In terms of done deals, Kepa Arrizabalaga has reportedly joined from Bournemouth, and Martin Zubimendi is due to join from Real Sociedad. Official announcements for the Spanish duo are expected in the near future.
